Jake's Racing History My passion for motorsport began at a young age spending time watching my dad racing. At 4 years old I had, and raced, a Havel Buggy at various venues around the midlands, including a support race at a rally special stage event at Silverstone. I got into Karting in the November of 2004 and did the usual of winning all the novice races, before joining the WTP Championship. Throughout the 2005 season my racing improved and I finished 20th in the series.
During the winter of 2005 I moved to the Comer Cadet Series, a much tougher and more professional championship. I was lucky enough to qualify to join the Fusion Motorsport team managed by Dan Hazelwood, who coached me throughout the 2006 season, seeing me finish 14th in the British Championship.
An opportunity to race for my country came up in the form of the Internations Cup, a one off event held over 3 days between England, Scotland & Wales. Many heats and races later England finished the overall victor. The 2007 Cadet season had many ups and downs, testing was limited due to my family's business relocation & limited funds. However throughout the season I still managed to earn good championship points and finished 10th overall.
The top 10 cadets in the British Championships (including myself of course) were invited to a secret location to take part in a promotion and race with Lewis Hamilton. At this exciting location there was a race and drivers briefing held by Lewis and a lunchtime meeting at which all us cadets and the press could put questions to Lewis.
After this some Mercedes McLaren goodies were given out and off went Lewis in a helicopter to prepare for the British Grand Prix 3 days later. Minimax was my next step up the karting ladder, this saw me move on to full size chassis using a 125cc water cooled restricted rotax engine, capable of speeds up to 75mph, this class is suiting me very well which my race results will back up.
I have now moved to NJR Motorsport, the home of the octane chassis, which was my choice chassis for the season.
The NJR team is made up of Nick Jest & Chris Rogers, both of which have helped me develop myself as both a racer and a winner. Chris Rogers, driver, coach and engineer for octane has been karting for decades, raced against Lewis Hamilton in cadets and is the current Formula A Champion.
